Mar 8, 2012 -
U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-09) issued the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 3606, the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act (JOBS Act). This legislation will increase capital formation, spur the growth of startups and small businesses, and pave the way for more businesses to go public and create more jobs.
“What the American economy needs most is for the federal government to get out of the way. This legislation slashes some of the red tape currently handcuffing America’s entrepreneurs and job creators. And, it makes it easier for young startups to get the much-needed capital they need to grow.”
“The ingenuity and hard work of the American people is the primary reason for this nation’s success, not mandates and decrees from the federal government. Our job in Washington is to foster and promote an environment that allows America’s job creators, risk takers, and inventors to pursue their dreams and transform them into reality.”
The JOBS Act bundles six bills together to help jumpstart the economy and restore opportunities for America’s job creators. It gives young companies a temporary reprieve from some SEC regulations, makes it easier for small businesses to get access to capital, facilitates small businesses efforts’ to go public, and increases investment in community banks.
