Rep. Graves votes in support of Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act of 2011

Washington, Dec 8 -

U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-09) issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 1633, the Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act of 2011, which prohibits the EPA from regulating dust produced from farming-related activities.

"I live on a farm in north Georgia and understand the importance agriculture producers place on protecting the land they use to grow quality food to feed Americans. Additional rules and regulations on the men and women who fill the nation’s, and the world’s, breadbasket are not only unnecessary, they can be economically damaging."

"Dust is a necessary byproduct of agricultural activity, and farmers have developed best-practices to combat it because it helps conserve their land and also protects their families’ well-being. Many activities essential to farming involve dust, including driving down an unpaved road."

"With the nation struggling with high unemployment, America’s lawmakers should be on the side of job creators and family farmers, not on their backs. There is no need for the federal government to produce yet more unnecessary red tape."
