Rep. Graves Receives New Appropriations Subcommittee Assignments
New Jurisdictions Connected To Key Georgia Industries
Washington, Jan 30 -
Today, the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations announced new subcommittee assignments for the 2nd session of the 113th Congress. U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14), a member of the committee, now serves on the Subcommittees on Energy and Water, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and will remain on Financial Services. ###
“I am grateful for subcommittee assignments that connect me to some of Georgia’s most important industries. With the Savannah Harbor project moving forward and the potential for another military base realignment and closure round, these assignments provide me with a unique opportunity to be a watchdog for the top priorities of our state and region. I also look forward to holding the Veterans Affairs Department accountable for its treatment of America’s heroes.
“Looking at the year ahead, we have some hope of returning to regular order, which will make the appropriations process more open and transparent. There will certainly be new opportunities to save taxpayer dollars and hold the massive federal bureaucracy accountable for waste and overreach. With every hearing and every bill, we will continue the work of building the committee’s reputation as a place where bloated budgets get cut and the American people get a better deal.”
In the 1st session of the 113th Congress, Rep. Graves served on the Subcommittees on Financial Services, the Interior, and Commerce, Justice and Science. He has served on the Appropriations Committee since 2011.
