Rep. Graves Responds To President Obama’s Climate Speech

Washington, June 25, 2013 -

U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14), issued the following statement after President Obama announced the details of his climate change agenda today:

“At a time when job creation is our country’s most urgent priority, and as 76 percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, it’s disheartening to hear President Obama promise to destroy jobs and increase energy prices. We need more jobs and cheaper gas, not an ideological agenda. Furthermore, the president declared war on the coal industry today, which is filled with hardworking Americans who provide the affordable energy that heats our homes and powers our businesses. It was the abandonment of the average American worker in favor of extreme environmental activists. I will use my committee position and work in the House to combat the components of the president’s agenda that will make life harder for families in Georgia and across the country.”

Rep. Graves is a member of the House Appropriations’ Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies, which has jurisdiction over the Environmental Protection Agency. Last month, Graves voted to bypass President Obama and build the Keystone XL pipeline.
