Rep. Tom Graves Votes to Balance the Budget
Vote Sets the Stage to Send an Obamacare Repeal Bill to the President’s Desk

Washington, April 30, 2015 - Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) issued the following statement after voting in favor of the budget agreement reached by the House and Senate:

“Like the initial House-passed budget, this budget agreement puts America on a secure and prosperous path for generations to come. It balances within 10 years, cuts more than $5 trillion in spending and does not raise taxes. It repeals Obamacare entirely and strengthens Medicare. It also includes the resources the military needs to defend our country today and prepare for the battles of tomorrow. This is critically important to Georgia’s many military installations and their communities.

“Additionally, by passing this budget, we took another step in a legislative process called ‘reconciliation.’ This is important because the House Republican Majority has passed many bills to repeal Obamacare, but the Senate has never passed one. The Senate can now use reconciliation to pass a bill repealing Obamacare and we can send it to the president’s desk for the first time. We must show the American people that the Republican-led Congress will deliver an Obamacare repeal bill to the president.”

The budget agreement passed the House by a vote of 226 to 197.
