Rep. Tom Graves Votes to Protect Rights of Sportsmen

Washington, February 26, 2016 - Today, Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) voted for and the House passed the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act (H.R. 2406), bipartisan legislation to protect and expand opportunities for recreational hunting, fishing and shooting.

“As a hunter and avid outdoorsman, I love and respect the long tradition of sportsmen in Georgia and around the country,” said Rep. Graves. “This bill will help ensure my kids, and someday their kids, can fish, hunt and enjoy nature just as I have.”

Among other changes and protections, H.R. 2406 exempts certain sporting equipment – such as lead sinkers – from federal regulations, prevents the Army Corps of Engineers from prohibiting individuals from legally carrying a firearm in public areas of a water resources development project, and allows the National Park Service to establish hunter access corridors.
