Graves: Trump’s Budget is a Courageous Step to Address Nation’s Debt

Washington, March 11, 2019 -

Washington, D.C. – Following the release of President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2020 budget proposal, A Budget for a Better America, Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) shared the following statement:

“Under President Trump’s pro-growth policies and leadership, our economy is booming and American workers are seeing the lowest unemployment rate in nearly 50 years. President Trump is keeping his promises to the American people and this budget proposal is a courageous step to address our growing national debt.

“Washington should spend less, not more. By reducing spending by $2.7 trillion over 10 years, this proposal takes an honest look at the drivers of deficit spending and makes tough choices. The simple truth is that the road to get our fiscal house in order isn’t an easy one.

“As Republican Leader of the new Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress I am excited about the President’s plan to modernize and improve our government. By taking a fresh look at current inefficiencies and ways to improve our systems, we can find ways to better serve the American people. As consumers, we are constantly utilizing new technologies and data to make our lives more efficient. Our approach to governing should be no different.

“I am ready to get to work with my colleagues to deliver solutions and responsible policies that allow for American business owners, working families and consumers to thrive.”
