Graves Hosts Local Government Services Day in Rome

Washington, May 7, 2019 -

Today Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) hosted a Local Government Services Day at Georgia Highlands College in Rome, Georgia. The event connects local leaders with state and federal agency resources that can help them better serve their constituents and communities.

At the event federal and state officials gave presentations to highlight the services and resources offered by each agency. The agencies in attendance included the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. General Services Administration, Georgia Power, Georgia Department of Community Affairs and the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority.

“Today we had more than 50 attendees from nine counties representing 10 segments of local public servants. I always look forward to this event with the local officials who protect and serve our communities,” said Rep. Graves. “I’d like to thank the local leaders who joined us today to learn more about the resources and services offered by state and federal agencies. Northwest Georgia is better off thanks to their dedication and service to our community.”

The event was open to county commissioners, mayors, city councilmembers, sheriffs, emergency managers, city and county managers, 911 directors, police chiefs, fire chiefs, and chamber presidents from the 14th District. The event has also been held in Paulding and Whitfield Counties.
