Graves: “We should stand with our Commander in Chief.”

Washington, January 9, 2020 -

Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) today released the following statement in opposition to H.Con.Res.83, the War Powers Resolution voted on by the U.S. House of Representatives. The resolution was written and introduced in an attempt to curb President Donald Trump’s ability to respond to military threats abroad.

“As Commander in Chief, President Trump took an oath to defend our nation against any threat. This includes continued threats from the Iranian regime, whose campaign of terror has spread violence worldwide. These threats deserve a measured and thoughtful response, like the one we saw from President Trump yesterday. But this resolution, which does not carry the force of law, was crafted without public hearings and the input of national security experts, and was rushed to the floor by Speaker Pelosi in an attempt to score political points. President Trump has made it clear that the United States is ready to pursue peace, and together we should stand with him and our brave men and women in uniform.”
