Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) issued the following statement today after voting in favor of the Veterans Accountability Act (H.R. 1994), legislation that makes it easier to hold officials at the Department of Veterans Affairs accountable for misconduct:

“The gross misconduct we saw at the VA last year was a matter of life and death for some veterans. Yet, many of the employees who were responsible for the secret wait lists are still on payroll because VA bureaucracy makes it nearly impossible to hold employees accountable. By empowering the VA to discipline or fire bad employees, this bill will significantly increase accountability, allowing those who take their responsibilities seriously to improve services at VA hospitals and facilities across the county.”
